Simisalu-Matsimäe Nature Trail

Simisalu is the place where You can find a start of a very interesting and long bog walk trail. But it´s the place of Estonian one of the most famous novelist Anton Hansen Tammsaare - writing about Estonian farmer life. All historic places include the trail. Ask for english broschure at Tammsaare Museum (Waypoint TAMMSAAR on GPX file and map below).
You can reach this track by car or bicycle from Kehra (then it will be multi-day journey). By bus You can reach Albu and then walk about 5 km to start.
Waypoint SIM000 is the starting point. Simisalu Hiking Center provides bed and sometimes a breakfast here. The track may be wet all the time (except in the middle of a very cold winter). So be prepared for wading. But nothing too extreme...
15 km trekking, about 7-8 km one way (You need transportation at the end then). You can see bog landscapes where (at the bog islands) farmers were some centuries ago, last local left the bog island 25-30 years ago. One farm house is roofed and camping is available. Lake Seli is good place for birdwatching. We saw several birds there.
